34  Then Jesus called the crowd and his disciples to him.  “If anyone wants to come with me,” he told them, “they must leave self behind, take up their cross, and follow me.  35  For whoever cares for their own safety is lost, but if a person loses their life for my sake and for the Gospel, they will save it.
